Blue Yonder has announced the acquisition of Pledge Earth Technologies, in a move that will enable its customers to better track and manage Scope 3 emissions across all transport modes.
Blue Yonder, an Arizona-based provider of end-to-end digital supply chain transformation solutions, said that as a result of its acquisition of the UK-based firm, its platform will expand to ‘include globally accredited logistics CO2e emissions reporting that allows customers to monitor their own emissions and those of their trading partners and suppliers’.
Pledge was established in 2021 with the aim of bringing accessibility and transparency to freight emissions measurement and reporting. Its solutions automate the collection and exchange of shipment data from logistics suppliers, facilitating accredited and traceable emissions calculations across all transport modes.
‘A huge win’
“The ability to easily and accurately quantify precise emissions is a huge win for our customers’ sustainability initiatives, but it’s also more than that – it’s about what you can do with that information,” commented Saskia van Gendt, chief sustainability officer, Blue Yonder.
“By gaining more insight on the environmental impact of their logistics operations, businesses can find ways to reduce cost, improve accountability for logistics service providers’ transportation emissions, and target specific inefficiencies for improvement. Blue Yonder’s aim has always been to give customers much-needed visibility into their end-to-end supply chain; this new capability will pave the way for smarter, more efficient and greener supply chains.”
Compliance with regulations
The integration of Pledge’s tools into the Blue Yonder Platform will enable businesses to better comply with global regulations and frameworks such as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi), and Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), as well as unlocking opportunities to cut emissions, reduce empty miles, and optimise fuel use, the company said.
The team at Pledge will join Blue Yonder as part of the acquisition, with all previous Pledge customers now supported by the group.
“At Pledge, we believe that technology is a powerful catalyst in the fight against climate change,” added David de Picciotto, CEO and co-founder, Pledge. “By joining forces with Blue Yonder, we are multiplying our reach and our impact, giving the largest enterprise supply chains on the planet access to the tools they need to measure, report, and cut carbon.” Read more here.
