Logistics giant Kuehne+Nagel has announced updated emissions reduction targets, aligned with the latest framework from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
The updated framework, which is build around a baseline year of 2024, sees Kuehne+Nagel raise its level of ambition for Scope 1 and 2 emissions in line with a 1.5°C temperature pathway and the latest climate science. In terms of Scope 3, meanwhile, it will focus on emissions intensity reductions tailored to each transport mode, maintaining the ambition level of the previous target.
The new targets build on progress made against the previous 2019 baseline, which saw Kuehne+Nagel achieve a 14% absolute emissions reduction, setting the foundation for the next phase of its climate commitment strategy.
‘Strong progress’
“Kuehne+Nagel was among the first logistics providers with approved SBTi targets, and we have made strong progress since 2019,” commented Christine Wiederkehr-Luther, global head of sustainability, Kuehne+Nagel.
“The upgraded targets reinforce our 2050 net-zero ambition and focus our efforts on accelerating practical, scalable solutions. Together with our customers and partners, we will continue advancing the transition to low-emission supply chains.”
