Envision Energy has become the first Chinese renewable energy company to earn a CDP Climate Change ‘A’ rating.

The company, which is also the only renewable equipment manufacturer to achieve this rating, has achieved operational carbon neutrality for three consecutive years, starting in 2022, and reached 100% renewable electricity usage in 2024, a year ahead of its RE100 target.

‘Gold standard’

‘As the gold standard for global climate disclosure, CDP‘s scoring is widely adopted in ESG investing, supply chain assessments, and client compliance reviews,’ the company said in a statement.

‘This achievement affirms Envision Energy’s leadership in global climate governance and sustainability, while setting a new benchmark for the competitiveness and resilience of global renewable energy industry on the international stage.’

Compared to its baseline year, Envision Energy has reduced Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions by 91%, with the company generating 7,089 tonnes of CO2 in 2024.

According to the company, its products have helped clients avoid an estimated 2.35 billion tonnes of global carbon emissions.

Envision has developed a series of digital tools and net-zero technologies in its efforts to transform its supply chain, with its AIoT-based Carbon Management System used to conduct carbon assessments for key suppliers.

As of the end of 2024, all key suppliers were connected to this system, with 18% of suppliers using 100% renewable power in supplying Envision products, cutting approximately 19,000 tonnes of Scope 3 emissions in the process.

Envision is aiming to achieve full renewable electricity use across its core supply chain by 2028.

Carbon footprint

Elsewhere, Envision has announced collaborations with international organisations such as the International ILCD Life Cycle Data Network, to establish standardised product carbon footprint databases and address supply chain ‘data gaps’.

The company has also pioneered the ‘Net Zero industrial park’ model, the first of which is located in Ordos, Inner Mongolia, which is powered by a large off-grid renewable system and integrating a green industrial cluster. The facility is home to the world’s largest AI-enabled green hydrogen and ammonia facility, which earned an ISCC Plus certification for green ammonia with a verified GHG footprint. Read more here.
