Siemens has announced it made progress across all 14 of its DEGREE sustainability targets over its current fiscal year.
Reaffirming its 2030 sustainability commitments, the company said in its latest Sustainability Statement that it enabled its customers to avoid 694 million metric tonnes of emissions over the lifetime of offerings sold during the past three years, which is equivalent to the overall emissions of Germany in 2024.
In addition, for the second consecutive year, the company has reported customer avoided emissions that have exceeded emissions generated across its value chain.
‘Growth and resilience’
“When sustainability and business strategies converge and are executed with speed and scale, organisations are best positioned for growth and resilience”, commented Judith Wiese, chief people and sustainability officer and member of the managing board of Siemens AG.
“At Siemens, we empower our customers to do exactly that – accelerate their digital and sustainability transformations by combining the real and digital worlds. Yet technology only reaches its full potential when it’s accessible to everyone, and that starts with empowering people to master the skills of tomorrow. That’s why we are committed to driving continuous learning and aim to empower three million people globally by 2030 through our learning offerings, with a focus on sustainability and digitalisation.”
Since 2019, Siemens has reported a 66% reduction in operational CO₂e emissions, excluding carbon credits, and remains on track to achieving a 90% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by the end of the decade.
From a circular economy perspective, Siemens has expanded the rollout of its Robust Eco Design (RED) approach, with two thirds (67%) of its portfolio now covered, while in terms of biodiversity, the company increased the implementation of its biodiversity conservation programme across relevant locations, from 18% in fiscal 2024 to 55% in fiscal 2025.
Elsewhere, the company’s zero-waste-to-landfill efforts surpassed 2025 interim targets of a 50% reduction compared to a fiscal 2021 baseline.
