Decision to exclude leather products from EUDR ‘sends a worrying signal’

The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) is designed to ensure that products placed on the European Union market, or exported from it, are not linked to deforestation or forest degradation. The legislation introduces mandatory due diligence requirements for companies trading commodities such as cattle, cocoa, coffee, palm oil, rubber, soy and wood, with the aim of reducing the EU’s contribution to global deforestation and biodiversity loss.
SustainabilityOnline tracks the latest developments in EUDR, including regulatory updates, implementation guidance, supply chain due diligence, traceability, responsible sourcing and evolving compliance requirements. We explore how businesses are preparing for the regulation, strengthening transparency across global value chains, adopting digital tools to support due diligence, and responding to changes in EU sustainability legislation. We also examine the wider impact of the EUDR on climate action, biodiversity, sustainable agriculture and corporate sustainability strategies.
