ODOS, a sustainable agri-food startup that seeks to simplify data collection, has raised €680,000 in a funding round.
The funding round was led by Capsa Food (Grupo Central Lechera Asturiana), with the participation of TTAF by CLAVE and Angels, an investment firm run by Spanish billionaire Juan Roig.
ODOS, which was co-founded by Alejandro Vergara and Cian White (pictured), is a joint University College Dublin and Trinity College Dublin spin-out company, and is already working alongside cooperatives and food businesses across Europe.
The firm, which is currently supported by the Valencia-based accelerator Lanzadera, is working on technology that will enable cooperatives and farmers to measure, report, and verify their environmental impact, and enable them to keep up with evolving climate and regulatory demands.
‘Scale our impact’
“The trust our investors place in our mission and management gives us the strength to scale our impact,” commented Alejandro Vergara, CEO and co-founder, ODOS.
“With agriculture responsible for nearly 15% of global greenhouse gas emissions, transforming this sector is one of the most powerful ways to tackle climate change. We are here to help agri-food players comply and thrive with clarity, simplicity, and real results on the ground.”
The ODOS team comprises 11 individuals from nine different countries, with White and Vergara leading the business with support from a board of directors.
‘Growth potential’
In a statement, the company said that the entry of Angels, Capsa Food, and TTAF by CLAVE into ODOS’s capital ‘strengthens its business model and validates its growth potential, paving the way for initial deals with key clients’.
Rubén Hidalgo, open innovation director at CAPSA Food added, “With the tailored project at Cian, Alejandro and his team ensure our dual objective: to back talented entrepreneurial teams and to strengthen the dairy sector through technology and innovation, achieving greater environmental, social, and economic sustainability for our industry.” Read more here.
