Amazon has announced the launch of the Amazon Sustainability Deep Tech Accelerator, an initiative aimed at fast-tracking the development of low-carbon technologies.
The Accelerator will support ‘innovators working on next-generation technologies that could reduce the carbon impact of displays, semiconductors, batteries, and packaging; transform how cloud hardware is designed, used, and retired for greater reuse of critical components and materials; and source advanced, lower-carbon alternatives for plastics, polymers, and textiles,’ Amazon said in a statement.
Said innovators will also be provided with a direct route to having their technologies evaluated for potential adoption across Amazon Devices, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Amazon Private Brands.
The programme will initially focus on three areas: low-carbon materials and advanced manufacturing, energy efficiency, and circularity.
Existing programmes
Amazon said that the initiative builds on existing programmes such as the Devices Climate Tech Accelerator, launched in 2025, which saw 28 firms participate, and eight progress to present proposals to Amazon’s senior leadership teams in September 2025.
It also supports the tech giant’s Climate Pledge, announced in 2019, through which it is seeking to achieve net-zero carbon emissions across its global operations by 2040.
‘From lab to enterprise adoption’
“Across industry, new technologies are needed to reduce carbon emissions and increase the use of recycled materials,” commented Maiken Moeller-Hansen, director of energy and sustainability for Amazon Devices & Services. “Many are being developed right now by thousands of innovators around the world – but the traditional path from lab to enterprise adoption is too slow.
“We designed this program to accelerate a different path, one where innovators develop an integration proposal shaped around product roadmap and manufacturing readiness, then present it directly to the leaders who can green-light it.”
Applications for the Amazon Sustainability Deep Tech Accelerator are due to open in January 2027 – more information can be found here.
