Conagra Brands outlines sustainability progress in Fiscal 2025 Citizenship Report

Conagra Brands has outlined its progress across four pillars, Good Food, Responsible Sourcing, Better Planet and Stronger Communities, in its Fiscal 2025 Citizenship Report.

Conagra Brands has outlined its progress across four pillars, Good Food, Responsible Sourcing, Better Planet and Stronger Communities, in its Fiscal 2025 Citizenship Report.

These pillars ‘guide how the company creates value while operating responsibly’, the food firm said, with the past year seeing Conagra align its sustainability goals with Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) guidelines, developing updated 2035 climate targets that strengthen its efforts to reduce Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions.

Other sustainability achievements recorded in the past year include the diverting of approximately 90% of solid waste away from landfill and incineration, and some 19 of its production facilities earning Zero Waste Champions accreditation for their efforts to reduce waste.

Through its annual $9 million Sustainability Capital Allowance, Chicago-headquartered Conagra says that it continues to support projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, conserve water and minimise waste.

‘A more sustainable and resilient future’

“Our citizenship work is integral to how we run and grow our business – strengthening our brands, supporting our people and communities, and operating responsibly,” commented Sean Connolly, president and chief executive officer of Conagra Brands. “We’re striving to make measurable progress and help build a more sustainable and resilient future.”

Across its food portfolio, Conagra has sought to improve product transparency and consumer information, introducing new front-of-pack communication and becoming the first major brand to communicate ‘GLP-1 Friendly’ messaging on pack.

All of its production facilities have now achieved certification under Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI)-recognised standards, while it has also expanded product transparency through the rollout of approximately 7,500 SmartLabel pages.

On sourcing, meanwhile, Conagra has commenced assessing priority ingredients in collaboration with the Kellogg School of Management, while it has also joined the Circular Action Alliance, a group focused on improving packaging recovery and recycling systems.

In terms of its community-related efforts, the company reported increased employee engagement through volunteering and food donation programmes during 2025, with employees contributing more than 10,000 hours across over 100 nonprofit organisations.

‘Embedding sustainability’

“We’re focused on embedding sustainability into our strategy and operations by prioritising the issues where we can have the greatest impact and being transparent about our progress,” said Christine Daugherty, vice president of sustainability, Conagra Brands.

“This year’s report includes an updated view of our priority topics, reflecting the issues that matter most to our stakeholders and our business.” Read more here.
