EY has announced a partnership with sustainability software firm Watershed, on an initiative to help organisations better measure and report on their environmental impact.
The partnership will enable organisations to improve regulatory readiness through ‘audit-ready carbon data, automated greenhouse gas emissions calculations and scalable sustainability reporting capabilities’, EY said in a statement, adding that it will see EY US’s sustainability advisory, implementation and program management capabilities combine with Watershed’s sustainability AI platform.
‘From goals to action’
“The alliance between EY US and Watershed helps organisations move from their sustainability goals to measurable action,” commented Derek Przybylo, EY-Watershed Alliance Leader, EY US.
“By combining EY US sustainability advisory, implementation and program management capabilities with Watershed’s sustainability AI platform, the EY-Watershed Alliance helps clients strengthen emissions measurement, automate reporting and build scalable sustainability solutions that support their decarbonisation initiatives and regulatory readiness.”
The two groups will support organisations with a full range of end-to-end sustainability processes, including audit-grade data collection, measurement, reporting, product carbon footprinting, planning and sustainability advisory services, EY noted.
‘Guiding organisational change’
“Over the next few years, sustainability work is going to evolve,” added Christian Anderson, CEO at Watershed. “It will become more automated and action-oriented. Sustainability insights will fuel operational efficiency and resilience in addition to meeting reporting demands.
“Through this alliance, the companies at the centre of that shift can pair Watershed’s rigorous data foundation with EY US experience guiding organisational change.”
Watershed provides AI-powered sustainability software for businesses to measure, report on and reduce emissions. Its customers include Airbnb, Carlyle Group, FedEx, Visa and Dr Martens, while its technology draws on a database of more than 3.2 million emissions factors, supported by a team of in-house climate scientists and policy experts.
