Engineering consultancy Sweco has signed agreements to acquire two Luxembourg-based firms, PROgroup and +ImpaKT, to bolster its sustainability efforts.
PROgroup and +ImpaKT are consultancy firms that specialise in circular economy, sustainability-led project management, and data-driven solutions, with the acquisitions set to add 40 new specialists to Sweco’s existing 110-person team in Luxembourg.
‘Data-driven skills’
“We extend a warm welcome to our new colleagues from PROgroup and +ImpaKT as they join the Sweco team of thousands of engineers, architects and other experts in Belgium and Luxembourg,” commented Erwin Malcorps, business area president of Sweco in Belgium and Luxembourg.
“They are bringing niche, data-driven skills in organisational transformation and the circular economy, both of which are areas where we have identified strong market demand in terms of advising clients on how to meet the EU Green Deal sustainability goals. This further sharpens Sweco’s position as the leading architecture and engineering consultancy in Europe.”
PROgroup and +ImpaKT
Sweco noted that PROgroup’s expertise in managing sustainability-focused real estate and urban projects ‘perfectly complements Sweco’s deep technical know-how’, enabling end-to-end support for sustainable real estate and urban development projects that is ‘firmly grounded in circular economy principles’.
+ImpaKT, meanwhile, brings experience in circular economy strategy, digital product passports, ESG compliance, and EU-funded digital tool development (e.g., CIRPASS, Onto-DESIDE), enabling Sweco to better address ways to develop circular business models and ensure regulatory compliance.
The two companies boasted a combined turnover of €5.1 million in 2024, while Sweco’s Belgium and Luxembourg operations, which are headquartered in Brussels, reported a turnover of €350 million last year.
‘These acquisitions align with Sweco’s acquisition strategy to grow the business by adding key skills that complement Sweco’s 22,000 experts, and it will expand the group’s market position as Europe’s leading architecture and engineering consultancy,’ Sweco added. Read more here.
