The Consumer Goods Forum’s Sustainable Retail Summit (SRS) takes place in London from 28 to 30 January, welcoming some 200 attendees from more than 125 companies in the retail and consumer goods sectors.

Over the three days of the event, discussions will cover consumer behaviour, transforming the food system through net-zero strategies, decarbonising supply chains, rethinking sustainability strategies for the future, sustainable packaging, reuse and refill models, integrating human rights into climate transition efforts, retailer decarbonisation, climate and nature technology, food waste, and a circular carbon economy – but most of all, the overarching theme is one of collaboration, and coming together to foster affirmative action.

Working together

“No business can tackle the breadth and scale of today’s challenges alone,” commented Wai-Chan Chan, managing director of The Consumer Goods Forum. “However, by working together, we can find solutions and drive action faster and more effectively.

“For our members, sharing lessons learned from their own businesses, exchanging best practices, and exploring new ideas together is essential. Building future-proof, sustainable businesses requires industry-wide collaboration, ensuring that everyone benefits and accelerates their positive impact.”

Industry leaders

Among the speakers set to address the Summit are Ken Murphy, Group CEO of Tesco, Hein Schumacher, CEO of Unilever, Imke van Gasselt, VP Health & Sustainable Diets at Ahold Delhaize, Bertrand Swiderski, Chief Sustainability Officer at Carrefour, Nathalie Alquier, Chief Sustainability Officer at Danone, Marija Rompani, Director of Ethics and Sustainability at the John Lewis Partnership, Archana Jagannathan, Chief Sustainability Officer for PepsiCo Europe, Joseph James, Sustainability Manager Forest Risk Commodities at Sainsbury’s, and many more.

This year’s Summit will also welcome a new series of interactive workshops, with one devoted to exploring innovative tech solutions for retail challenges, and a second aimed at advancing decarbonisation. Experts at organisations such as the Fair Labor Association, the Food Foundation, the World Benchmarking Alliance, WRAP and WWF-UK will participate in the discussions.

The event will also feature a Sustainability Discovery Tour Programme on 30 January, which will explore innovative sustainability practices in action around London. More information on the Sustainable Retail Summit can be found here.
