Packaging giant Ardagh Group has published its latest Sustainability Report, outlining the progress made in emissions reduction, increased use of renewables, and the incorporation of recycled content in its metal and glass packaging businesses.

“Against a backdrop of geopolitical uncertainty, regulatory change and increasing climate impacts, we remain focused on delivering sustainable packaging solutions that support our customers’ decarbonisation ambitions,” commented Alexander Kuzan, CEO, AGP-Europe. “We partner with our customers to create long-term value while contributing to a more circular, low-carbon economy.”

Operating divisions

The report covers the sustainability performance of Ardagh Group’s two operating divisions, Ardagh Metal Packaging (AMP) and Ardagh Glass Packaging (AGP), with AMP having reported a 16% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions since 2020, along with a 18% reduction in Scope 3 emissions.

On renewable electricity, the group said that in 2025, AGP derived 47% of its electricity from renewable sources, with AGP sourcing 25%.

In terms of circularity, meanwhile, AMP beverage cans achieved approximately 76% recycled content, while AGP glass containers achieved approximately 55% recycled glass content. Elsewhere, all AMP production facilities have now achieved 100% Zero Waste to Landfill status, it noted.

Lastly, Ardagh Group said that it continued to invest in employee development, wellbeing and inclusion, through biodiversity projects, recycling initiatives and the Ardagh for Education programme.

‘Ardagh Group remains focused on accelerating decarbonisation, advancing circularity, strengthening water stewardship and creating positive social impact across its value chain as it works toward its 2030 sustainability targets,’ the company said in a statement.
