Electric Vehicles

Electric Vehicles (EVs) are powered wholly or partly by electricity rather than conventional internal combustion engines, helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve air quality. Battery electric vehicles (BEVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles are playing an increasingly important role in the transition to low-carbon transport. As battery technology, charging infrastructure and renewable electricity continue to develop, electric vehicles have become a key component of corporate decarbonisation strategies and national climate policies.

SustainabilityOnline provides coverage of the latest electric vehicle developments, including EV technology, battery innovation, charging infrastructure, automotive sustainability, transport decarbonisation and evolving regulatory frameworks. We explore how businesses are electrifying vehicle fleets, investing in charging networks, reducing transport emissions and responding to changing consumer demand and sustainability legislation. We also examine developments in battery supply chains, critical minerals, renewable energy integration, circular economy initiatives and the role of electric mobility in achieving net zero targets.

Related topics: electric vehicles (EVs), battery electric vehicles (BEVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), transport decarbonisation, sustainable mobility, EV charging infrastructure, battery technology, battery recycling, critical minerals, automotive sustainability, greenhouse gas emissions, renewable energy, net zero, low-carbon transport, circular economy, climate policy and corporate sustainability.

Public electric vehicle charging infrastructure is expanding ahead of demand in almost all EU countries, new analysis from Transport & Environment (T&E) has found.
