The All-Ireland Sustainability Awards has announced its shortlist for its 2026 awards, following what organisers described as the ‘biggest year yet’ for entries since the event was launched.
A total of 178 entries were submitted, with more than 90 organisations and initiatives shortlisted following the judging process, which took place in early September.
The judging panel included representatives from sustainability authorities, academic institutions and sustainability-focused businesses across the island of Ireland.
‘Embrace sustainable principles’
“We are delighted to announce this year’s shortlist for the All-Ireland Sustainability Awards,” commented Danielle McCormick, founder, All-Ireland Sustainability/Triterra. “From rural community organisations to multi-national corporations operating in our largest cities, this year’s entries truly reflect the diversity of organisations who continue to embrace sustainable principles and incorporate these into their daily operations.
“Judges this year were inspired by the creative and innovative approaches taken to sustainability as well as how embedded sustainable practices have become for organisations of all sizes, highlighting the evolution of sustainability beyond a ‘tick-box’ exercise and the wide-spread embracing of sustainable practices for future-focused, efficient organisations and business resilience.”
Festival of Sustainable Impact
The awards, which are in their fifth year, will take place on 1 October at Belfast‘s Europa Hotel, as part of the all-day Festival of Sustainable Impact.
The gala awards ceremony, which takes place that evening, will celebrate the milestones, innovations, campaigns and sustainability champions who have progressed sustainability in Irish businesses over the past year. It follows on from the All-Ireland Sustainability Summit, taking place during the day, which will feature the theme ‘Smarter Business Through Sustainability’.
Commenting on this year’s awards, Jenda McSwiggan, head of growth operations, NI, at workplace pensions and savings provider Cushon, said that the standard of entries was “incredibly high, with so many businesses showing genuine commitment to sustainability and taking practical steps to make a positive difference.”
