Belkin achieves carbon neutrality in Scope 1 and 2 emissions

Consumer electronics brand Belkin has achieved carbon neutrality in its Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, and has reiterated its target of achieving carbon neutrality across all scopes by 2030.

The company made the announcement in its 2024 Impact Report, in which it stated that it reduced its Scope 3 emissions by 1,890 metric tonnes of CO2e at product level, as well as achieving carbon neutrality in Scopes 1 and 2.

It also achieved an 89% reduction in single-use plastic packaging, well ahead of its 2025 goal of 25%, while 210 metric tonnes of virgin plastics were replaced.

Plastic reduction

In total, Belkin has saved some 2,183 metric tonnes of plastic since 2019, equivalent to around 114 million water bottles.

It has also transitioned 359 products to incorporate between 72% and 75% post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials. In 2025, many of its top-selling chargers and cables will feature 85-90% PCR housings, a move that is expected to cut emissions by up to 85%.

Elsewhere, it has funded the recycling of more than 28,000 metric tonnes of electronic devices, 11,000 metric tonnes of packaging, and over 1,300 metric tonnes of batteries.

‘A profound responsibility’

“Belkin recently surpassed a monumental milestone: over 1 billion products sold globally,” commented Steven Malony, CEO of Belkin. “As we reflect on this achievement, we recognise that with scale comes a profound responsibility – to our customers, to the planet, and to future generations.

“As we reflect on our 2024 Impact Report, we recognise the progress we’ve made and the work still ahead. We are actively transitioning to post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials across our product lines, using 100% plastic-free packaging, and investing in long-term sustainability strategies to achieve our larger goals of carbon neutrality across our entire business by 2030.”

Belkin recently earned a Silver Medal from EcoVadis to acknowledge its sustainability efforts –a recognition that places it in the top 15% of companies in its industry.

Looking ahead, the company said that it remains ‘dedicated’ to achieving carbon neutrality across all scopes by 2030, and increase its investment in circular design principles.

“Our mission goes beyond creating accessories that empower people to get more life out of every single day – it’s about driving positive change for the planet and its people,” Malony added. Read more here.
