Animal health and nutrition firm Alltech invested $2.72 million in 13 renewable energy projects last year, which cut annual emissions by more than 3,000 metric tonnes of CO₂e, it said in its 2025 Sustainability Report.

Since setting its emissions reduction targets, the Lexington, Kentucky-based firm has completed 47 energy efficiency and renewable energy projects, reducing emissions by 15,837 metric tonnes of CO₂e annually, it noted.

Elsewhere, the firm reported the expansion of zero-waste-to-landfill practices to seven of its facilities, while recycled or reused water use increased by more than 55%.

In the report, Alltech outlined the progress it has made across emissions reduction, sustainable agriculture, resource efficiency and community investment across more than 140 countries, through working closely with farmers, customers and partners.

‘A profound responsibility’

“Agriculture has always carried a profound responsibility to nourish people, to care for the land and to support the communities that depend on it,” said Dr. Mark Lyons, president and CEO of Alltech. “Today, that responsibility feels greater than ever. We are being asked to produce more, while using fewer resources, and to do so in a way that is both transparent and trusted. At Alltech, we see this as an opportunity for agriculture to lead.”

Other highlights from the report include Alltech’s continued investment in scientific research and environmental assessment – with the firm publishing 43 peer-reviewed studies during 2025 – as well as the completion of 73 life cycle assessment (LCA) projects across the agri-food supply chain, providing customers with sustainability insights.

World Without Cows

Alltech’s World Without Cows documentary was screened more than 250 times across 36 countries during 2025, while at COP30, it launched World Without Cows Brazil: The Battle for Balance, a companion film focusing on sustainable cattle production and land use in Brazil.

During the year, Alltech earned EcoVadis Platinum recognition for several of its global facilities, as well as FAMI-QS accreditation in Mexico and Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) Feed Standard certification for facilities in the Netherlands and Finland.

“Alltech is proud to partner with producers in optimising productivity, profitability and resilience while advancing sustainability,” added Tara McCarthy, global vice president of ESG at Alltech. “This balance is critical if we are to deliver impact at scale, and the 2025 Alltech Sustainability Report shares examples of how Alltech is working with farmers and others across the agri-food chain to achieve it.” Read more here.
