Insight and analytics firm Clarivate has reported a 24% reduction in overall greenhouse gas emissions on a year-on-year basis in its 2025 Sustainability Report.

The firm, which works with around 45,000 organisations across multiple sectors such as education, research, legal, healthcare and government agencies, as well as major corporations, said that total emissions across Scope 1, 2 and 3 categories fell from 96,666 tCO₂e in 2024 to 73,110 tCO₂e in 2025.

‘Moving beyond ambition’

“At Clarivate, our role is to connect people and organisations to the intelligence they need to transform ideas into real-world progress,” commented Matti Shem Tov, chief executive, Clarivate. “Every breakthrough that improves lives or protects the planet begins with such insights.

“This report shows how Clarivate is moving beyond ambition to drive meaningful progress across the business and communities we serve. It also shows how we are increasingly embedding responsible business practices across our own operations.”

Clarivate also said that it has strengthened the systems and processes it uses to measure and manage emissions against its 2023 baseline year, while integrating sustainability considerations into its operations more broadly.

Sustainability achievements

Other achievements highlighted in the firm’s sustainability report include that sustainability-certified workplaces now account for approximately 38% of the company’s total office footprint, and the expansion of its ProQuest One Sustainability research and teaching resource, which is now used by more than 400 institutions.

Elsewhere, the company’s workforce contributed more than 36,000 hours to volunteer activities through the company’s volunteer time-off programme, and it collaborated with pharmaceutical company Teva on antimicrobial stewardship programs across Germany and Kenya, improving responsible antibiotic use through data-driven interventions.

‘Clarivate will continue to evolve its sustainability approach, guided by its materiality assessment and focus on climate change, workforce impact, responsible business conduct and transparency in its value chain,’ it noted. Read more here.
