India-based renewable energy firm ReNew Energy Global has reported a 25.6% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions against a 2021/22 baseline, exceeding its previously-set targets (23.5%), it said in its latest integrated report.
The report, Beyond Boundaries: Decarbonising Value Chains to Deliver Climate Value at Scale – Responsible Innovations for a Sustainable Tomorrow, highlights ReNew’s ‘measurable progress’ towards its SBTi‑validated commitment to achieve net zero by 2040, it noted.
The Gurugram-based firm generated 24.7 billion units of clean electricity during the year, equivalent to powering around 21.2 million households and avoiding approximately 20.8 million tonnes of CO₂e annually.
As it noted, the report reflects the business ‘transformation from a renewable energy generator into a comprehensive decarbonisation solutions provider’, highlighting its progress across renewable energy, manufacturing, energy storage, digital innovation and other decarbonisation activities.
‘Wider value chains’
“Beyond Boundaries reflects our belief that climate value today requires us to go beyond clean power generation and address the wider value chains that shape environmental and social impact,” commented Vaishali Nigam Sinha, co‑founder and chairperson, sustainability, at ReNew. “This year, we strengthened our climate action, resource stewardship, responsible innovation and governance agenda, including the launch of our first ESG Data Book and Responsible AI Policy.”
Some 84% of its electricity came from renewable sources during the year, as the business worked towards its target of 100% renewable electricity by 2030, while it also saved more than 617 million litres of water during the year.
ReNew also reported ESG assessments for 100% of its critical suppliers, with the assessments extended to Tier 2 suppliers. Elsewhere, it established a new governance framework for the ethical, transparent and accountable use of AI, while its commercial and industrial solutions helped its customers avoid around 3.11 million tonnes of CO₂e.
Operational portfolio
As of May 2026, ReNew’s operational portfolio reached 12.8 GW across solar, wind, hydro and battery storage, while its manufacturing capacity included 6.4 GW of solar modules and 2.5 GW of solar cells.
The company added that it contributed around 8% of India’s green energy generation during the FY2025-26 financial year. Read more here.
