Valeo Foods Group has been awarded a Platinum Medal in the EcoVadis sustainability assessment, which the company said puts it in the top one percent of companies evaluated.

The Platinum level is the highest classification achievable in the EcoVadis sustainability assessment, which evaluates companies on non-financial criteria covering the environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.

‘A proud moment’

“Achieving EcoVadis Platinum rating is a proud moment for our business,” commented Ronald Kers, Valeo Foods Group CEO (pictured). “It reflects the dedication of our people and our determination to integrate sustainability into everything we do – from how we source and produce, to how we support communities and protect the planet.”

Over the past year, the company has accelerated its sustainability agenda through initiatives to reduce carbon emissions, water and food waste, greater reliance on renewable energy, and more responsible sourcing, as well as the development of healthier alternative products and more sustainable packaging.

These initiatives align with the group’s long-term business strategy, it noted, adding that both the EcoVadis Platinum rating and previous Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) approval of its near-term and net-zero targets highlight its progress in reducing its environmental impact and fostering a transparent, responsible business environment.

‘Ongoing commitments’

“We are incredibly proud to have achieved EcoVadis Platinum Medal this year,” addd Dr Grainne O’Halloran, head of sustainability at Valeo Foods. “Our increased score reflects our ongoing commitment to continuous improvement, sustainable practices and ethical operations across our business.”
