The World Resources Institute has launched a new resource, the NDC Tracker, through its Climate Watch data platform.
The tool enables users to track which countries have submitted updated nationally determined contributions (NDCs), whether they include 2030 and 2035 emissions reduction targets, as well as the opportunity to compare these with previous NDCs.
The tool also offers the opportunity to review countries’ submissions side by side, facilitating insight into economy-wide GHG targets and adaptation commitments.
So far, the NDC Tracker includes details on the updated NDCs from Brazil and the United Arab Emirates, which have formally submitted their plans.
‘With countries due to announce new climate commitments by early 2025, this tool helps understand and contextualise actions countries plan to take through 2035,’ the World Resources Institute said.

NDC commitments
Yesterday, a number of countries and regions, including Canada, Chile, the European Union, Georgia, Mexico, Norway and Switzerland, announced they would commit to NDCs in line with agreed efforts to address climate change and limit global warming to 1.5 C.
Commenting on the countries’ announcement, Melanie Robinson, global climate, economics and finance director at the World Resources Institute, said, “This announcement by a diverse coalition of countries is a powerful display of leadership in the final days of the UN climate talks. Any serious chance of meeting global climate goals requires all major emitters to make deep and sustained emission cuts that offer a credible path to reach their net-zero promises.
“Now, it is imperative that all major emitters follow their lead with bold, actionable commitments of their own. And crucially, countries must embed climate action at the core of their economic and sectoral strategies, backed by transformative policies and catalytic investments.”
