While technology advancements such as AI offer a glimpse at the future, they will be unable to scale without effective water management, Ecolab has said.

Water is the foundation of life and business,” commented Christophe Beck, chairman, president and CEO, Ecolab. “We cannot create more water, but we can reimagine how we use it.”

Growth & Impact Report

Beck was commenting as Ecolab, which provides water, hygiene and infection prevention solutions and services, published its 2025 Growth & Impact Report, outlining the group’s progress along both business performance and sustainability metrics.

Last year, it partnered with customers across more than 40 industries and 170 countries, with its products and services helping customers conserve 245 billion gallons of water.

Its collaborative efforts also helped avoid 4.7 million metric tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions, it noted, and protected 1.7 billion people from foodborne illnesses and infections.

“Companies that act decisively, apply proven solutions and work in partnership will lead the next era of growth,” Beck added.

According to the firm, Ecolab’s solutions have generated $12.9 billion in cumulative value for customers since 2019.

Emissions reduction

Within its own operations, Ecolab reported a 44% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions against a 2018 baseline, while 92% of its operations are now powered by renewable electricity. As a business, it has also improved water use efficiency by 36%.

Elsewhere, Ecolab expanded Alliance for Water Stewardship certification to 16 facilities, advanced basin-level action as a co-founder of the United Nations Water Resilience Coalition, and partnered with Water.org to expand access to safe water and sanitation.

It also rolled out new digital tools, including the Water Use Efficiency Index and Water Navigator IQ platform.
